The Brimfield-Tallmadge Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) became effective January 1, 2004. The JEDD has as an initial start up with 52 business enrolled. Payroll tax and net Corporate tax is based at .25 of 1 percent.

JEDD Description
Brimfield Township and the City of Tallmadge entered into contract to create and operate the BRIMFIELD-TALLMADGE JOINT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT [JEDD] in accordance with Sections 715.72 through 715.83 of the Ohio Revised Code for the mutual benefit of the citizens of both communities.

The JEDD offers opportunities for additional sources of revenue to the communities not previously available by accelerating development of industrial, business, and commercial areas that creates additional jobs, payroll taxes, and corporate net profit taxes. The JEDD enhances the ability to develop and expand infrastructure improvements including providing central water and sewer to the district creating highly desirable sites to attract business and industry.

Brimfield Township and the City of Tallmadge share the tax revenues collected. The JEDD does not include the residential districts within the Township.

Taxes are levied at an escalating rate commencing, January 1. 2004

JEDD BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
The JEDD Board of Directors is established in accordance of Section 71`5.78{A} of the Ohio Revised Code.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
Members serve without compensation. The Board shall act through resolutions adopted by the Board. The Board may take such necessary and appropriate actions, or establish such programs to facilitate economic development in the District in accordance with the purposes of the JEDD contract.
