Trustees Memo July 2004

From Brimfield Town Hall:
Hello:
I hope summer is treating all well! Brimfield twp is speeding into the managed future. Zoning is probably the big issue on a lot of minds, as it seems everyone wants to move to Brimfield now, can you blame them! We have learned recently that Pizza Hut has purchased the lot next to the former Second National Bank, and will be building a modern store as soon as work on 43 winds down. By the time you receive this letter I’m sure we will all know who the anchor tenant is for the BIG project across the street from Maplecrest. Holiday Inn Express is breaking ground and a new Mexican restaurant in town, and word that maybe a Oriental restaurant can’t be far behind, hold on to those chow bags, more food choices than we would have ever dreamed and we won’t have to waste a tank of gas getting there.

We are receiving are first Brimfield / Tallmadge Jedd check in excess of $16,000 which will surely help our cash flow. Our Park and Rec fee is now over $4000, this fund is going to directly benefit the established community.

Brimfield Fire is trained and ready, all eagerly anticipating the new Ambulance which should have been delivered as of this date, stop by and see what your tax dollars are delivering. Word at the station is that the Brimfield Fire Association is planning a fundraiser in the way of a Reverse Raffle, if interested in attending contact any member of the Brimfield Fire association.

As of this date the Police department is equipped and ready to use the new Tazers, after an intensive training session. Being a witness to a portion of the training and demonstration phase I know first hand that these are truly a modern effective tool and violence deterrent.

One example of a renewed combined community effort the soon to be annual Brimfield parade is right on schedule for Sat Sept 11, being planned and coordinated by Fire chief Keller, Police Chief David Blough and township secretary Carol Nelson, get your float or car ready and join the fun, it’s all for you the Brimfield community.

The Brimfield road department is very busy as they do a fine job of patching and sealing our roads. The winter is bad on all roads but older roads it is worse, we are looking at option, such as chip sealing Congress Lake road, and some other possibly bad rural routes. Road work is non stop if your road is bad hang on we are working as fast as the dry weather and the budget allows us.

Lastly the Community center, please stop by the town hall or library and review the plans of the building, we have all worked very hard at making this needed project a reality. As important as the project is, equally important is your review of the funding streams available for the project and understanding firmly how we will pay for it.
I could write for hours, but if more info is desired please visit the trustees page and read the minutes to all this years township meetings.
Enjoy your summer and family and have safe enjoyable summer.
